We are used to the ever-present cameras, but we will have to wait at least one more day for the 2025 debut of Dawson Knox. A long list of workdays missed opened up some opportunities for the back third of the roster today, and there is a lot of talent to be found there. It was a brutally hot and muggy Monday morning; maybe we can start a go fund me to add more seats in the shade.
The Bills opened up with a little fun and games gadget play I believe would be scored 17-5-19-17… Some warmup standouts included Josh Palmer, Richard Gouriage, AJ Epenesa, and Daequan Hardy. As they broke off for drills, our corner featured TE Coach Rob Boras working one on one with RB James Cook. There’s evidence every day so far that James Cook will be a bigger part of the passing game this season.
Next up were punt returns with a rotation of Codrington, Hamler and Laviska Shenault, who was making his Fisher debut. He didn’t do anything special today, but his frame is intriguing. I look forward to seeing him when they practice kickoff returns. WR Jalen Virgil may ride the gunner role to a roster spot in the absence of Curtis Samuel, Elijah Moore, Tyrell Shavers, and Kaden Prather… guys like Virgil, Kristian Wilkerson, and Stephen Gosnell got extra eyeballs. There has been a rotation of Tylan Grable and Ryan VanDemark in place of Spencer Brown; today was Grable’s turn.

The most exciting segment Monday featured some one-on-one downfield battles. Hairston and Coleman competed fiercely three times with one catch. Shakir got a win over Ingram. Rookie Dorian Strong beat Wilkerson. Nobody ever seems to beat Christian Benford.
With the vast majority of injuries on offense, today offered a good chance to look at the current depth on defense. If you have any apprehension about the Safety position, relax. It’s Rapp and Bishop. Forrest and Hamlin. And behind that rookie Jordan Hancock and Te’Cory Couch.
Matt Milano has been a stud. With Bernard and Dorian Williams out, Shaq Thompson, Joe Andreessen, and Baylon Spector have been roughly equal so far. It was fun watching Buffalo Joe calling the signals from field level. Depew’s own leading the Bills’ defense! Will there be a spot for Ulofoshio? CB will be tricky, but my sense is that Benford, White, Taron Johnson, Hairston, Strong, and Dane Jackson hold 6 of 7 or 8 spots.
Maybe the Bills are playing to all the “0” jerseys in the crowd; in any event Keon Coleman was the featured receiver again today. Besides the battles with Hairston, there were two nice plays later in practice, a sideline route and a quick slant.
It looks like one more sauna day before we get relief. I will remember today’s “feels like” temperature when January’s Wind Chills arrive.
