And so should we. There seems to be a somewhat divided opinion among Bills fans on social media about welcoming CB Tre’Davious White back to Buffalo. Big surprise (not), we have another binary, knee-jerk reaction by our fan base… ‘overreaction’ should be our middle name :)
“The Bills paid too much”. “He’s washed up”. We can’t stop ourselves from rushing to judgment because we are the ‘armchairiest’ bunch of GMs in the business.
Love us or hate us… we are an irrational bunch of know-it-alls.
It’s as if no world can exist where feel good stories and “real football” productivity can both contribute to a team winning an NFL Championship. No matter how many times the rush to judgment proves to be the incorrect path, we just brush it off as an outlier and move on to the next rush to judgment.
But this rush to judgment about Tre’Davious White’s future contributions to this team seems even more egregious than usual for our fan base. The mere IDEA of how accretive this move may be by Brandon Beane is shot down by those who are so busy rubbing their crystal balls it never occurred to them HOW White might be used in this version of Buffalo’s defense.

Do we know for certain Tre’Davious will be playing at the CB2 position? And if so, for how long? Do we know what the plans are for drafting a CB in the draft? Can we claim with any certainty how White’s continued rehabilitation from his injuries are going? Will the Bills defense be built around platooning CBs depending on opponent or game plan?
Certainly there is value in having a KNOWN ‘floor’ (a favorite term by the hoo hoos) at the CB2 position. Maybe using Dane Jackson with Tre White depending on opponents, or platooning in the same game if necessary allows for more options for Buffalo. Is that a bad thing?
I choose to remain open minded about bringing Tre’Davious White back to Buffalo until I see how the team plans to use him. Training camp should provide insight into how the Bills will utilize his current skill set. In the meantime, I’ll share the ‘kumbaya’ many feel about welcoming Tre back into the fold. There’s nothing wrong with being happy to see a guy back in the locker room who brought so much joy to the team… and to our crazy, “rush to judgement” fan base.
