Startup Weekend is coming back to Buffalo!

The 5th Buffalo Startup Weekend event is coming up on May 1-3 and is the first Startup Weekend event in the world focused on merging the sports industry with the tech startup community.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

This inaugural Sports-focused event encourages entrepreneurs and innovators to create new technologies in second screen fan experiences, sports science and big data, fantasy sports and in-game experiences that cater to the evolving world of sports. The goal of the event is to connect technologists, designers and marketers that are passionate about sports with ideas for improving the industry or fan experience while learning firsthand the intricacies of running a business.

Sabretooth will lead us in the National Anthem on Friday night, sports will be streamed on a big screen all weekend long, bubble hockey will be played throughout the weekend, prize packs from ADPRO, souvenirs from OneBuffalo, T-shirts from You&Who, 7 great local meals included, and on Sunday teams will be judged by radio-personality Jeremy White of WGR550, Director of Marketing John Durbin of the Buffalo Sabres, President of CoachMePlus Kevin Dawidowicz, and Co-founder/CEO of Campus Labs Eric Reich.

…All for just $25 by using the 50% off discount code: BILLSMAFIA

The event will be held at d!g this year and we are expecting a great turnout. Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!

About Del Reid

Del Reid became a Bills fan shortly after coming into this world, having been raised in a home that actually had a framed picture of OJ Simpson on the wall in the living room (until it came down in 1994). Del has always had a passion for bringing people together to celebrate things they share in common. As a result, he (quite accidentally) ended up co-founding the #BillsMafia movement among Bills fans in social media -- which to this point is the coolest thing that has ever happened to him aside from his relationship with God, his wife, and his two awesome kids. Follow him on Twitter at @mrdeadlier.
