Editor’ note: Welcome to our 2012 Draft Prospect Profile series, written by Scott DelleFave. Scott will be putting together quick, digestible summaries for highly publicized discussed prospects, prospects that interest him, and prospects that interest YOU.
If there’s someone out there who has piqued your interest and you want to know a little but more about him before April rolls around, get at Scott and request he put a profile together. You can email him at email@example.com with a request.
So, the series isn’t going to be Bills-centric necessarily; however, when the occasion calls for it, Scott will include thoughts on how a player might impact the Bills were they to draft him. But overall the goal is to educate you on some of the names you’ll hear called in April.
6′ 2″ 245 lbs.
University of Texas Longhorns
Emmanuel is extremely versatile, can play in the 3-4 or 4-3 defenses. He has very good instincts, with physicality to attack the line of scrimmage. Is a brother with Arizona Cardinals and fellow University at Texas linebacker Sam Acho. Has adequate size to be a linebacker at the next level.
Emmanuel has the potential of being excellent; however, he has not taken that step yet to make his game better and due to a rash of injuries though out his college years. Other weaknesses of his game is he struggles mightily with shedding blocks, and is not a big pass rusher, so do not expect ten plus sacks a year out of him.
He is good at everything, but not great at one thing. Acho is much more of a coverage linebacker than pass-rushing specialist in either defensive scheme, however will compliment a pass rusher very well.
Jarrett Johnson, Baltimore Ravens, Outside Linebacker
