Mafia Monday Interview with @bre_88

Welcome to Week 17’s Mafia Monday. We continue a three-part series, interviewing each of the remaining “OG’s” to complete the regular season. First up was @mrdeadlier and today we talk to the man who started #SchefterBreakingNews, @bre_88.

Mafia Monday is an interactive element where members of the community can get to know each other and build unity by becoming transparent.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
Been a fan since June 8, 1988 (the day I was born).

Earliest memories are a lil foggy but I always loved getting the Monday paper and reading about how they did and taping the lil mini posters from the paper in my room.

I also remember Gabe Northern coming to my elementary school!! 1st heartbreak might have been listening to the Bills on the radio in their playoff loss to the Dolphins with the whole Andre Reed controversy.

What is your favorite Bills memory?
I think the 2nd game ’02 Bills v Dolphins was a fun game… I don’t know why that game stands out to me but I love that game so much and I don’t know why. I just remember the snow, Ricky Williams whoopin us as usual but we had such a dynamic offense that year.

It was just so much fun to watch lots of back in forth then we just did em in at the end. Even though we finished 8-8, it was a great season. Bledsoe/Henry/Moulds/Price was my Kelly/Thomas/Reed.

What was the first Bills game you attended? Most memorable?
First time I saw the Bills play live was the Redskins/Bills preseason game last year in DC. First ever Bills game at the Ralph was the epic BILLS MAFIA TWEETUP!!

Most memorable has to be the tweetup. It will always and forever be my most memorable game. I don’t care if we win the Super Bowl and I attend that game! Just everything that happened was just amazing. The story of my first Bills game is such a great story. Might be to long for this interview. If I get requests to tell the story I might put the story on the site. I do wanna thank Les, Del, Jenn, & Bob for making it a weekend I will never forget!!

Do you own any Bills jerseys, and if so what ones?
I have a Lynch, T.O., and a 21 Spiller jersey lol.

Favorite Bill?
Favorite current Bill has to be Stevie simply because dude is f’n sweet and he plays with passion. I hope he goes back to celebrating after plays & TDs. That’s his game– dont change it for nobody. Its so hard to make it in the NFL and to score a TD. He was a 7th round pick and was basically a nobody his 1st 2 seasons. He earned his spot on this team, earned his spot to be a starter, and earned his TDs– so celebrate it! Don’t let nobody take that from you.

What is your favorite team to watch lose to the Bills?
Put it this way: I hate Belichick and Brady with every inch of my body.

Best tailgate food?
Only attended one tailgate so I would have to say my best tailgate food is the only one I had and that was a @randomlyrufus burger!!

Lastly, what does “Bills Mafia” mean to you?
Im gonna switch it up a lil bit and say what has Bills Mafia done for me. It gave me memory and another family. Name another fan base that does everything in their power to get you to a game and treats you like they’ve known you their whole life the very first time you meet in person?

Regardless of the record this season is one that we, The BillsMafia, are gonna tell for the rest of our lives. You really can’t put into words how great this season has been, and to think this is only the beginning. This truly has been a magical season. This family we have can only grow and get better.

About Del Reid

Del Reid became a Bills fan shortly after coming into this world, having been raised in a home that actually had a framed picture of OJ Simpson on the wall in the living room (until it came down in 1994). Del has always had a passion for bringing people together to celebrate things they share in common. As a result, he (quite accidentally) ended up co-founding the #BillsMafia movement among Bills fans in social media -- which to this point is the coolest thing that has ever happened to him aside from his relationship with God, his wife, and his two awesome kids. Follow him on Twitter at @mrdeadlier.
