Mafia Monday Interview with @shelby_Billsfan

Welcome to Week 6’s Mafia Monday!

Mafia Monday is an interactive element where members of the community can get to know each other and build unity by becoming transparent.

This week we sit down with @shelby_Billsfan, one of the earliest people on board with the #BillsMafia movement, and keeper of the official #BillsMafia Twitter list. Representing the family all the way down in Sunshine State!

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
I’ve been a Bills fan since I was 4 years old. We lived in Orchard Park, and I tagged along on my big brothers’ cub scout trip to Rich Stadium. We got to see the locker room, and walk through the tunnel onto the field. It was amazing and I remember it vividly.

What is your favorite Bills memory?
My favorite Bills memory is flying up for the ’03 opener. I got to hang out with a bunch of people from my BillsZone message board, and we shut out the Patriots.

What was the first Bills game you attended? Most memorable?
I can’t remember the first game I attended, but the most memorable was that ’03 opener.

Do you own any Bills jerseys, and if so what ones?
I have a Reich away jersey, and Paup, Wire, and Poz home jerseys. I want to get a Jackson or Williams jersey this year.

Favorite current Bill?
My favorite current Bill is Freddy Jax. Stevie Johnson and Nick Barnett are close seconds because I love how they interact with the fans on Twitter.

Favorite former Bill?
My favorite former Bill is Thurman Thomas. So freaking talented!

What is your favorite team to watch lose to the Bills?
I love watching the Dolphins lose to the Bills and hope we sweep their aqua and coral asses this season.

Best tailgate food?
The best tailgating food is Labatt Blue. A pork chop in every can.

Other sports you enjoy following? If so, favorite teams?
I also follow the Sabres, Red Sox, and UConn Huskies.

Lastly, what does “Bills Mafia” mean to you?
Lastly, to me, #BillsMafia is a way to unify our rabid fan base in a positive fashion. The fact that the players are embracing it makes it even more enjoyable. #BillsMafia makes me feel more connected with my fellow fans. I would love the chance to come up and go to a game with y’all. I live in Tampa but I will always bleed red, white, and blue. Go Bills!

About Del Reid

Del Reid became a Bills fan shortly after coming into this world, having been raised in a home that actually had a framed picture of OJ Simpson on the wall in the living room (until it came down in 1994). Del has always had a passion for bringing people together to celebrate things they share in common. As a result, he (quite accidentally) ended up co-founding the #BillsMafia movement among Bills fans in social media -- which to this point is the coolest thing that has ever happened to him aside from his relationship with God, his wife, and his two awesome kids. Follow him on Twitter at @mrdeadlier.
