If you have recently attended a Buffalo Bills training camp session, you might have noticed something different brewing amongst the 2011 Buffalo Bills. Take a drive through the suburbs of Buffalo, right down Jim Kelly Boulevard and you will most certainly feel change swirling in the wind. I am not simply alluding to the new styled uniforms that will be worn on Sundays, because the change resonates much deeper than. This change has dismantled an eleven-year, feeble foundation that is seemingly dust in the wind. Confidence is the new fervor that has provoked an inclination of change within the Buffalo Bills.
Stevie Johnson refers to this notion as swag, some label it determination, while traditionalists will insist on preserving the title of confidence. Choose your identification wisely; because once you create a name for this attitude, it will become contagious. This mentality of confidence has become instilled amongst the players, thus producing a potent “trickle down effect” to the fan base. This mentality is not just an optimistic view for this season, but a mindset that is here to reside within the Bills’ community.
Confidence is the reason that this year’s Buffalo Bills will not be a carbon copy of 2010 and duplicate a 4-12 record. Confidence has built an indestructible chemistry that has rejuvenated a roster full of talent. This intangible chemistry is being manufactured, enabling the offense to jell and the defense to fortify as one, substantial unit. If you are still reading this in disbelief, not find me to be a credible source, then believe Peter King of Sports Illustrated. After his visit to Pittsford, NY, King briefly wrote, “Merriman says he’s back, Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams will be a load of trouble, and the Bills are not a 4-12 team.” After reading King’s remarks, it is impossible to look at the Buffalo Bills and ignore their potential. If any franchise is going to shatter expectations that have been set for the 2011 NFL season, do not count the Buffalo Bills out. There is nothing more prevailing than a sideline full of young talent that is bursting with confidence, and that is precisely what the 2011 Buffalo Bills possess.
